(3/15/08- Mac OS 10.5 Leopard drivers have been released for this product and will be included on the CD with the sale.) We've got this Apple Airport-compatible Wireless USB adapter for sale. This is a mid-level adapter that offers a better range than our lower cost Mac USB adapter also on this web site, but is a lower-priced option to the longer range RokOn USB adapter kit we sell. This has a built-in heatsink which keeps the adapter cooler than other Mac compatible adapters and allows for extensive use, and it also has a higher gain internal antenna which means better range. This also works with the new Intel Macs (OS 10.4 or 10.5 is required for use on the Intel Mac). This unit is new and has not been used, but we have tested this model adapter on a Macintosh computer and can verify it is 100% compatible. The adapter comes with 2 CDs. One CD is the original manufacturers CD which has the Windows drivers. We also include a CD-R disc that we created which contains the Macintosh setup files as well as an instructional for installation. Basically to install on any G3, G4, or G5 Mac all you need to do is go to the folder on the disc for your version of Mac OS (this is compatible with OS 10.3, 10.4, and 10.5 Leopard) and run the installation program. Then reboot as per the instructions and when the computer boots back up, open the readme first text document, connect the device to your Mac, and then follow the steps to initialize the device on your computer inside the System Preferences menu. This works on any G3, G4, or G5 with OSX versions 10.3, 10.4, or 10.5 only. Intel Mac use requires OS 10.4 or 10.5. This does work with Windows as well (Windows 98SE all the way up through Windows Vista) and Linux too.

While the range may be greater outdoors, indoors and in most places like cafes or airports we believe the average user will experience more like 100-200 feet of range. Range can very based on factors not related to the wireless adapter, such as the broadcast strength of your wireless access point and obstacles/interference in the area. This is an 802.11g device which means it is better than the older Airport wireless adapters which were 802.11b because this can connect to signals at speeds up to 54 mbps, which is almost 5 times faster than 802.11b speeds of 11 mbps. **You do not need to have an Airport adapter in your computer, or an Airport base station in order to use this. This is an alternative to the pricier Airport adapters. It is compatible with Apple Airport base stations, but it also works with any other brand wireless router like Linksys, Netgear, or Belkin.

This item is new but it is not in retail packaging- it is in OEM non-factory packaging. You will receive the adapter just as pictured, along with the two CDs.
